Japan is a land of contradictions – the huge cities of skyscrapers, neon signage, and futuristic architecture, but also ancient temples and shrines. We visited Kobe, Kyoto, and Tokyo. There was so much to photograph that I would love to go back!
We have made multiple trips to Provence and I still need to go back. The medieval cities, the vineyards, the wine, the food, the Roman ruins, and the Mediterranean keep calling me back.
Nice is considered the capital of the French Riviera. Besides its ideal location on the Mediterranean Sea, it has a host of old, quaint buildings and shops to photograph. It has many museums and parks that are ideal for photographing as well.
Monte Carlo officially refers to the area of the Principality of Monaco where the Monte Carlo Casino is located. It also informally includes several other wards referred to as the Monte Carlo Quarter. The views of the Mediterranean from “The Rock” were amazing, as was the Prince’s Palace built in 1191 and home of the Grimaldi Family since 1297.
The “City of Lights” is my favorite city visited so far. It in known for its museums and architectural landmarks, which makes it heaven for a photographer like me. There is so much to photograph and see, from the Louvre to the river cruises to urban street art.
One of my favorite cities in Europe for photographing architecture, heavily influenced by the genius Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain.
Hawaii is in its own category because of the huge difference from any other state I have visited. It’s tropical climate, island geography, active volcanic activity and Asian plurality make it unique in the US. For scenic beauty, I feel that it is at the top of the list of states I have visited.
My home away from home for 2 years (1998-1999), England has a special place in my heart. Living in Sunningdale, Berkshire, 30 miles southwest of London, we were close enough to take the train into London for the day but were sheltered from the big city atmosphere in the bucolic English countryside.
A quick trip to Italy yielded only a few photos from my film camera days. Rome, Florence, and Pompeii were among the cities visited. One certainty – I want to go back!
Two trips to Costa Rica lead us to the capital, San Jose, Arenal Volcano National Park, Manual Antonio National Park, Tortuguero, and Monteverde. Beautiful and colorful are the words that come to mind, as well as green in the rainforests and cloud forests.
Puerto Rico, a US territory, is a series of islands with the largest being Puerto Rico. We stayed in the capital city of San Juan, which was a revelation! Amazing architecture, so colorful and so much to photograph! The forts left by the Spanish in the 16th century are amazing - the oldest European style fortifications within the territory of the US. We also traveled around the island, which is so green, with beautiful beaches on the coast, mountains and the El Yunque tropical rainforest. So sad for the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.
My favorite city after Paris, I grew up 20 minutes out of NYC in the suburbs of NJ. I go back to visit whenever I can, photographing cityscapes and architecture while walking the streets of Manhattan - where there is always something interesting to shoot.

My adopted state for over 38 years offers much in the way of scenic beauty as well as interesting architecture and urban landscapes. Included are several photographs of Indianapolis, and our most recent home of Carmel.
Early in my career I focused on flowers and nature because I was home with children and the plants and flowers were literally right in my own backyard!
